The lift thing that VTEC does that VVTi doesn't do, is very cool...

Definitely VTEC, the 2 cam profiles is better than the single VVTi one.

VVTi is often just on the intake side. Are there VTECs like that too?

Then theres Toyota's VVTL-i (L for lift) which works like VTEC
It isn't possible to alter lift with the VVTi system.

Variable valve timing is the way of the future, it won't be long until we start seeing even smarter systems.

:banghead: SR does NOT stand for Street racing!!!!!! thats just rumours that spread round the net, just like RB isnt race bread
and as for NA goodness, nissan have the vvl as has been mentioned previously, in one form (the vzr n1) its putting out 200hp from a 1.6ltr from factory

and as for SR20dets for drifting, its the chassis (Silvia's) that they have been put in which make them good for that, the RB series engines are also good for drifting (once again because they come in the Nth Sth layout for RWD). You also get the East West configuration for FWD SR20DET's, as seen in the rothery's 10sec N14 pulsar
ignorance is bliss

If you wana play the game
your gota learn to play it right

I thought integra's are very light and they can be pretty quick on a quarter mile and silvia's are very heavy and slow on 1/4 mile well you said silvia are quicker they must be you are right

but one day i watched a video on google video's from a website something a sr20det vs vtec integra and the vtec smoked the sr20det

here's the link for the darg

yeah man vtec has an IQ of around 200, whereas vvti has an IQ of 90

You say sr20det motors are good for drifting, why is new zealand 2nd fastest DRAG import a sr20det?

With that video it doesn't tell you if its stock for stock or what has been done.

IN most cases turbo owns vtec its as simple as that.

I've seen a race between a 1600 dohc vtec vs a non turbo s14 and the s14 cleaned up, the vtec had a lot more done to it than the silvia as well.

The driver of the typeR integra in that video was hammering those gears and jumping around like a kid.

Silvias, heavy? WTF? they are like 1200kg. And have alot more power and more importantly torque. But they struggle for traction.

Anything can beat anything given the right situation, all your theoretical questions really are the same as asking how long a piece of string is.
